Glitter Gradient with KBShimmer

Hi! So I've been a terrible blogger this week, oops! I finally got some new swatches so this week will be better. I originally put on my base polish to photograph it for the Untrieds challenge, but then decided I wanted to do a glitter gradient with my new KBShimmer polish!

Starting with my base, I put on two coats of Joe Fresh Moss. Like the name describes, this is a great dark, slightly murky green. It makes me think of vegetation and foliage, the murkiness makes it a very "natural" green. Then I added KBShimmer We Three Blings in a glitter gradient concentrated around the cuticle. We Three Blings is actually a glitter from the Christmas collection, but I waited to get it until just recently. I think Harlow and Co still has it for sale!

I can definitely say I love both these polishes! The green is really cool and edgy, and I think the gold glitter is going to be usable year round and not just for Christmas time!

Joe Fresh Cinnamon

Hi there! Happy Friday! Have any plans for the weekend? My boyfriend and I are going on a date tonight so I'm excited about that, dinner and bowling, yay!

This is a colour I picked up last time I was at Superstore, I hadn't seen it before so I thought I thought I should pick it up. (Not like I was at Superstore expressly to buy polish...) It's a blue-based red with gold shimmer, and a great winter colour. Formula was good, two coats and it's good to go! Unfortunately the gold shimmer did get drowned a little in the base, but it's still a pretty colour.

In other news I'm still trying to fix my camera's white balance, I loved how it was set before but now my pictures are coming out so dark! I want to Photoshop them as little as possible so I really want to get it back to my custom setting. Ugggggh I'm so mad at myself!

Anyway I will hopefully have that figured out soon, I have lots of swatching to do!

Joe Fresh Bumbleberry

Hi!!
Okay so I realize I'm on a super intense Joe Fresh kick right now but I seriously can't help it! They're my go-to for creme shades that round out a collection. They do great basic colours that I love, but don't necessarily want to spend a ton of money on. (I'm looking at you, $10/bottle OPI!) The formula is almost always great, and the price point is so right! Three for ten dollars, don't mind if I do. This particular colour is a great berry shade, a bit more on the pink side. It has a great creme formula and went on easily in two coats. The little short brush handles do take some time to get used to, but the brushes themselves are fantastic. Anyway this is all something you've heard from me before, so let's get on to the picture!

I really loved this shade and will be reaching for it to pair with some glitters soon! The little bit of blackness at my nail line isn't the polish's fault btw, I didn't clean up properly after the galaxy mani.

Joe Fresh Mulberry

Hey folks! I'm back with another awesome Joe Fresh! Since I just talked about them Monday, I'll go right into the polish.

Mulberry is a deep, vampy wine colour with amazing gold and what looks like burgundy microglitter/shimmer. Once again, the shimmer almost looks like teeny tiny flakies a la Zoya Neeka, and I loved that so obviously I love this too! This is a FANTASTIC fall/winter polish and I'm super glad I scooped it up! Formula was, it was perfection, I only needed two coats and had hardly any cleanup. I will note that the tiny bottles on Joe Fresh polishes take some getting used to, but after that it's all good. I loved this so much that I ended my swatch session and put it on as a full mani!

Let's see some pictures! All have Nail Tek II basecoat and SV topcoat.

Can we just take a moment here and look at that bottle? Amazing.

Love love love. Thank you Joe Fresh. If he was a person, I would have to marry him.

Joe Fresh Twilight

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! I hope you're all having a happy Monday anyway. If not, maybe this beauty will cheer you up. I've posted Joe Fresh polishes before, and I have to say I'm impressed with them! They're very affordable, (3 for $10?! Heck yeah!!) good quality, and the colour range is phenomenal. I don't go to Superstore much, but I always spend some time looking at all the different polishes. This one is pretty awesome because it's a FLAKIE!!! Twilight is one polish I make sure to always slip into swap packages because I think it's just so cool, and it's only available here in Canada.

Twilight has a sheer black jelly base loaded with green to orange colour shifting flakies. It does take three coats to reach opacity, but it's soooo worth it. The flakies flash green most of the time, and it makes the polish look like a gemstone! Then at certain angles, bright orange! Man it's great. I can't believe I waited so long to try this out. Because the base is sheer, it could probably be layered, but I like the depth and flakie payoff of wearing it on its own.

You ready? Yeah, you're ready!
All pics are with Nail Tek II basecoat and SV topcoat.

I'm in love.

Then, because I've heard great things about mattified flakies, I decided to throw on my matte topcoat (also Joe Fresh, hey I love a bargain!) and find out for myself.

I still like it, but I think I prefer the glossy look! I definitely will be trying more matte manicures in the future though. So what do you think? Has this steal of a deal stolen its way into your heart? Find a Canadian friend to get it to you, it's worth it!

Joe Fresh Cement

Hi hi hi! I had a terrible tragedy yesterday. Ok not really, but one of my nails broke, not just a little bit, oh no. All the way down to the nail bed almost, and at the corner too. I had to trim all my nails right down and round them. I never used to understand the big fuss over breaking a nail, I definitely find it annoying now! At least these shorter nails are less hassle and stress. My nails are weak and brittle so when they're longer I find myself consciously trying to baby them so I don't break one, and if I see a break starting it drives me crazy. Clearly I have issues!!
So today I have another Joe Fresh to show you! This is a pale creamy gray. It's more of a blue gray than a brown gray so it looks clean and sophisticated to my eyes. And I think it looks nice on my nubbins haha. Formula wise it was easy to control and not too thick or thin, however it is very sheer! The first coat it didn't even look like I had anything on my nails. This is four coats and it's still not completely opaque, but I don't mind because when I lost the length I also lost the gross staining I had on my nails! Blessing in disguise!
I think I mentioned this in my first post, Joe Fresh is available in Superstores here in Canada and is dirt cheap at 3 for $10.  Bottles do hold only 6 ml though.

So pictures are outside in natural light. It is yet another gloomy, overcast day here in Central Alberta!

Okay and this is completely unrelated to nail polish, but I think my computer is possessed. The typing line thingy, I don't know what it's called. The vertical line that flashes and shows where you're typing, mouse pointer maybe? Anyway it keeps moving around or just disappearing entirely, without me doing anything! And sometimes the window minimizes itself. Super weird and SUPER annoying. Cursor! That's word I was looking for! Hahaha.

My First Post!

I started this blog mainly to share my love of nail polish, but I will also post about other things like music and fitness on occasion. But mostly nail polish :) Right now I'm waiting on my camera to charge, then I'll post some pictures of my NOTD!

Alright so this is actually a few days after I wrote that first part. Here in Alberta the weather can change pretty quickly and we ended up getting a few gross snowy days! So now it's sunny again and I could finally take pictures. Of course, in the meantime I changed my nails.

Today I am wearing Iris, a blue-toned purple by Joe Fresh. At least I promise in real life it's purple, my camera only makes it look blue no matter how much I try to get it to show purple! Formula wise, it's alright. I had problems with a few other Joe Fresh polishes so I wasn't expecting much from this one, but it was okay! Some chipping and tip wear happened at work but I work with my hands and I didn't wear topcoat, my fault on that one. Joe Fresh polishes are available at Superstores in Canada and retail for 3/$10 (dirt cheap, so no wonder the formula is hit or miss!) This was 3 coats.

Actually now that I'm looking at the pictures, they are true to color! Silly camera!
