Nail of Many Days Ago

Hello again!
This was intended to be a NOTD, but that was many, many days ago. I can explain my sporadic posting schedule, but it would take forever so I'll just say that I've been having technical difficulties and leave it at that.
This look is Need Sunglasses? from the OPI swatch post, topped with two coats of a black and silver glitter called Satin Knight. The glitter is from a brand called true colors that I found in a Nova Scotia drugstore called Lawton's. I gotta say, that drugstore is AWESOME and I wish we had them here in Alberta. I can't find any mention of this true colors brand on Google but they had a bunch of different coloured glitter and a collection of other colours. They were really inexpensive so I bought five and will definitely be using them in jelly sandwiches, yay! This one has black and silver microglitter and small black hexes. I'm gonna be using this over everything! The glitter isn't too terribly sparse but it did want to stick together a bit so I had to dab it on where I wanted it.

Now remember how I said that Need Sunglasses? took foreverrrrrrrr to dry? Well I added this glitter a full day or two after I'd been wearing it, and it somehow turned the WHOLE thing into a gummy mess and it got mushed off my index finger. Blegh. But I'll just load on the SV next time, overall I really like these two polishes!

I'm Back! With Some OPI Swatches

Hey everyone, so it's been just over a month since I last posted... Wow. Definitely didn't mean for it to be that long, things definitely haven't been going as planned. The reasons for my disappearance are long and boring (to anyone who isn't me, haha!) If you're curious, feel free to ask, otherwise, on with the polish!
So you may know that my No-Buy July was definitely not a success, and not something I will EVER do again. It was painful. It was torturous. It backfired terribly and I hauled like MAD in August. And the next few posts will bear witness to that! My stash of OPI multiplied like crrrraazy because I found this awesome lot sale on kijiji (Canadian Craiglist) of like, 15 polishes for $50. Mad As a Hatter was in there so I definitely had to get it! Then a week or two later, OPI was on sale at Beyond the Rack and I had a credit so I picked up maybe 7 more. Yuuuup, I have a problem. Most of the colours you've more than likely seen before, but I had never worn them so I felt the need to swatch. Bear with me ;)

Side note- I wasn't sure if it was "bear" or "bare" with me, a quick Google search informed me that if I used "Bare" with me, I'd be inviting you to undress.... SO yeah. Bear it is! Pictures after the jump!

Revlon Sunshine Sparkle

So today I have another Revlon polish for you, also part of their core line. Sunshine Sparkle is a light buttery yellow with subtle silver shimmer. I love the colour of this polish, it's very light and happy! Unfortunately, the formula leaves much to be desired. It's sheer and streaky, and refuses to self-level. The pictures show four coats, and some nails could probably have used a fifth but I wasn't having any of that. It's also very slow to dry on it's own, a quick-dry topcoat is a must here! All that said, I still love the colour enough to keep it around until I find a better pastel yellow.
Speaking of quick-dry topcoat, I need to find  some polish thinner soon because my Seche Vite is taking on the consistency of glue, yikes!
Well that is it for now, I hope you all have a lovely day and thanks for reading!

Sally Hansen HD Lite

Hi there! Sorry for my absence the past few days. Things are ramping up here because I have started contest prep, I am less than 17 weeks out now from my first ever bikini competition! I'm super excited but that means that now I have to be much more strict with my eating and make time for cardio first thing in the morning AND going back to the gym later to train weights. So between the extra cooking, planning, and gym time, it took me a while to get into a groove to have time to blog.
Today I have a polish that's a few years old. It's from the first range of HD colors Sally Hansen put out, and up until very recently, it was the only yellow I had! I think it's a good one. The formula is a little but runny but not too difficult to work with, and the colour builds up to opacity after 3 coats, which for a yellow is not bad at all! The color is bright and saturated, and has a slightly metallic finish. I think it's a great colour for summer, very sunshine-y and happy!
It was overcast the day I swatched this, so photos are indoors in indirect sunlight. For some reason the camera made everything look more cool whenever I tried to take a close up, the color is a bit warmer, like in the third picture.

HITS Mari Moon Trendy

Well the past week has been pretty eventful! I had been hoping to get a few more posts up, but between the weather, driving my mom to the airport, working like crazy, and getting sick, I didn't get around to it. I'm planning to be more consistent now, especially because two packages of pretties came for me! One from Llarowe, and one from Transdesign! Today I have a polish from Llarowe. It's called Trendy and is part of HITS Mari Moon collection of duo and mulitichromes. I really wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I did. It flashes from a yellowish green to a more grassy color and has a gorgeous metallic finish. Formula wise it seemed fine, the brush was a little thick and hard to control so my coats ended up thicker than I wanted and I have some bubbling in a few spots :( Still a beautiful color! 3 coats with topcoat.
Sorry about my short nails too, I've been having a terrible time with them breaking and peeling lately.

You can see on my index finger where my nail peeled :(
