Cult Nails I Got Distracted was from the semi-recent Coco Untamed collection. It was the polish that really caught my eye and I knew that eventually it would be mine! So when I decided to take advantage of the last Cult Nails sale and finally join the cult, I threw it into my cart with no hesitation.
Formula was amazing, I believe I needed only two coats. The base is a deep blackened teal with small hexes and lots of holo microglitter. It sparkles like crazy!
Also, I was messing with my camera and accidentally reset the white balance away from my custom setting and now my pictures aren't as bright as I like them, boo!

Essence Colour and Go Choose Me
Hello hello! Long time no post, I'm sorry! Boonstock was really fun, I loved so many of the bands and DJs! I ended up really liking Volbeat and Gob even though I hadn't listened to them much before. And obviously Avicii was great as usual. So after that exhausting weekend, I ended up getting sick (boo!) so I spent the past few days sleeping and sniffling. Then Wednesday night we went to Avicii again in Calgary because my boyfriend is obsessed with him. So pretty much I'm just getting back to normal now, and that includes posting.
Today I have a polish that sat in my untried pile for quite a time until I got around to it. It's a beautiful colour, it just took me a while to get it on! It's Choose Me from the Essence Colour and Go mini line. I actually didn't even know Essence was available in Canada, but then I found a small display at Shoppers Drug Mart and it had some polishes! Choose Me is a bright teal with gorgeous gold glass fleck shimmer. The formula was nice, I did three coats out of compulsion but two probably would have sufficed. The brush did seem a little strange but that could just take some getting used to.
This colour is EXTREMELY dupe-able. I believe OPI Catch Me in Your Net, Orly Halley's Comet, and Zoya Charla are all dupes to it. However this was I think $1.49 so really, can't go wrong there.
Pictures are outside, in the first shot I was getting rained on! Then the sun peeked out for the first time all week, yay! I'm holding topcoat because the mini bottle is a PITA to hang on to!

China Glaze Custom Kicks
I've been painting my nails like crazy lately! I bought this colour quite a while ago and it's been sitting neglected and forlorn in my untrieds bin. I finally put it on and I was like "Whoa, why have I been ignoring you all this time?!" This colour is awesome. Bright blue-green, with a very hidden golden shimmer. It shows up on the bottle but not much on the nail, and not with my crappy old camera haha. I would almost count this as a creme because unless you're peering at your nails you aren't going to see much shimmer. This colour is from the Kicks collection China Glaze put out way back in 2009. That's pretty old. Formula wise I recall this being decent. I doubled up on base coat because I was afraid of staining and when I took it off, I didn't have any. So that's good. I think I used three coats because that's just how I roll. Trying to take a picture of this polish was a real pain (you like my alliteration??) my camera did not want to focus to save its life. Kind of like me right now, but I'm writing this post very late at night because I couldn't sleep. :( Anyway, on to the good stuff.

HITS Mari Moon Daring
Before I get into the polish stuff ( I know, I know, the point of my blog in the first place) I have some other stuff to talk about! I haven't been able to blog for the last few days because my boyfriend discovered his laptop had some issues so it had to go to the Geek Squad to get fixed, and I was left with just my iPad. My iPad is great for looking at OTHER people's blogs, but to actually work on mine? Thumbs down. I hate tapping out long messages on the screen, and I actually couldn't get pictures on it from my camera. No USB port. And when I tried to email the pictures to myself, that didn't work either. But now that Lappy is back, I have some catching up to do!
This post (actually two manicures ago now) is HITS Mari Moon Daring. This color I got because it seemed similar to Ozotic Pro 505, which seemed similar to the first ever polish I ever loved, the legendary Sally Hansen Turquoise Opal. My bottle of Turquoise Opal turned a lame, murky, multichrome-less grey with age, and my heart wept. Amazon and evilbay searches yielded nothing. Then I found Llarowe, and Ozotic 505. Which was sold out at the time, so I decided to try the much cheaper HITS. Side note- since Ozotic discontinued all its awesome polishes last week, I went on a frantic spree and bought about 5, including 505. Yay!!
HITS Daring, while nice, isn't the TO dupe I was hoping for. The multichrome just isn't as strong. It looks grey most of the time, but at different angles it shows teal and purple. But subtly, not the in-your-face gorgeousness I wanted. It was also sheer, 3 coats for decent opacity but I also tried it layered over a coat of black creme and that was a little better. Anyway I doubt anyone is actually reading this anymore, so on to the pictures!
The first three are on its own and in sun. You can kind of see the different tones in the polish but I had a hard time getting them to show. The fourth and fifth pictures are with black underwear, the color looks a little deeper and you can see the shift a little bit better.

Color Club Metamorphosis
Metamorphosis is from the summer collection Color Club just put out called Take Wing. The entire collection is a bunch of beautiful glass fleck shimmers, and Metamorphosis is no exception. This is a beautiful teal, the kind of color I just keep buying! At certain angles and in the bottle it seems to have a tiny bit of purple flash, I couldn't get it to show on camera though. I used three fairly thin coats, it looked good at two but I'm paranoid about bald spots/ patchiness going on so I added another. Application was great though, barely any clean up!
First two in sun, third in shade.
