OPI Jade is the New Black Swatch- February Untried

Hey! So today is the very last February Untried! I have to say though, I did NOT get through all my untrieds! Ooops! I think I'll have to keep the challenge going next month, maybe one day all my polishes will have been shown some love.

Today I have a classic OPI shade, Jade is the New Black. This green creme is beautiful, I find that it's slightly softer and more blue-toned than the Joe Fresh green I showed last week. Formula was good and I used three coats. My bottle came to me used, however, and it did seem fairly thin compared to my other OPI cremes.

Did I use my commas right in that last sentence? Seriously, let me know if I didn't. For real.

ANYWAY picture time!

Ring finger bump is once again from old glitter, not the polish.

And my skin is so dark because I used self tanner haha gotta get my bronze on!
All in all I really love this green, you'll definitely be seeing more of it! *hint hint, nudge nudge*

As always, go see what Amanda Squared have for today!

Butter London Brummie- February Untrieds

Hi! So I have my first Butter London today. I haven't purchased any Butter Londons because I find the price point pretty high, but I saw this on clearance at Winners for $5 so I figured I pretty much HAD to get it!

Brummie is a cool, weird neon purple. On the first coat it looked quite warm but then the next few coats made it look more of a cool purple. I did find it pretty sheer and it needed three coats to build up fully, it also dried very matte so definitely be sure to use topcoat.

Those bumps on my ring finger are some kind of remnant of the glitter I was wearing before, not bubbles in the polish. Overall I think this is a really unique colour of purple, I have a lot of purple but nothing quite like this!

Hi there! So I have some Lac Attack polishes today, and I'm super excited to show them to you! Two are from the recent Magical Musings Glitta Gloves collaboration collection based on Harry Potter and and one is from the Valentine's collection. I'm putting this under a cut because I have a ton of pictures, so check it out!

Glitter Gradient with KBShimmer

Hi! So I've been a terrible blogger this week, oops! I finally got some new swatches so this week will be better. I originally put on my base polish to photograph it for the Untrieds challenge, but then decided I wanted to do a glitter gradient with my new KBShimmer polish!

Starting with my base, I put on two coats of Joe Fresh Moss. Like the name describes, this is a great dark, slightly murky green. It makes me think of vegetation and foliage, the murkiness makes it a very "natural" green. Then I added KBShimmer We Three Blings in a glitter gradient concentrated around the cuticle. We Three Blings is actually a glitter from the Christmas collection, but I waited to get it until just recently. I think Harlow and Co still has it for sale!

I can definitely say I love both these polishes! The green is really cool and edgy, and I think the gold glitter is going to be usable year round and not just for Christmas time!

China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le- February Untrieds

Hey everyone! I'm writing this up on Monday and I am super bagged from the long weekend, I went to a music festival in Edmonton and danced my brains out, it was fun! I don't party very often so it's nice to cut loose every once in a while. I'm ready to sleep for about a day now though haha.

I showed this colour last week as the base for Revlon Heavenly. It's a great light dusty blue with purple undertones. I can't remember how many coats I used, I want to say two.

Mmmm pretty! I love soft blues like this, probably why I have lots of them! Be sure to check out Amanda and Amanda with their untrieds today!

Color Club Alias

Hey! So I am super duper excited about this post today, this is such a gorgeous polish! I don't have very many multichromes. I don't think I've shown many on the blog because up until recently I was too intimidated to try and photograph them.

I put two coats of Alias on top of my No More Film mani it really helped with the sheerness Alias has. It shifts pink, purple, and even greenish at some angles.

Man I love this mani! I think it's super cool how the colours shift! I'm actually wearing another multichrome right now, they're seriously like magic.
Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend!

Essie No More Film- February Untried

Hi! Today's untried is an Essie creme that I just love. It came out last year in spring or summer with a bunch of bright, colourful shades and this was definitely the odd one out. No More Film is a dusky, dark blurple that is so rich and creamy. I love how it looks purple sometimes and blue others, but always has that slightly muted quality. Essie is kind of expensive here, so I hesitated on buying it, but I ended up finding it on sale at London Drugs. Score!

Formula was great, two easy coats. It shows a little more on the blue side of blurple (I love that this is an actual colour now btw) but that's just my camera.

I used this as the base for some pretty bomb layering I'll be showing you tomorrow! Be sure to hit up Amanda and Amanda to check out their untrieds!

February Untrieds- China Glaze Bare if You Dare

Hey! So for today's untried I have an older China Glaze polish. I don't know when it's from, I picked it up in a clearance bin from a random salon. At first I was a little afraid I wouldn't like this colour because it looks almost frosty, but I ended up being  happy with it!

Three coats, formula was fine. There was a little bit of VNL left but I was coolwith it.

As you can see it's an orange with an almost frosty shimmer. Or is that pearl? I'm not sure, but I like it! I think it will be a great summer colour with a tan!

Don't forget to check out Amanda and Amanda for their untrieds!

Revlon Heavenly

Good morning! So today I have another Revlon glitter, I feel like they've been releasing some really awesome stuff lately, even if it is mostly dupes. I had seen Heavenly on blogs and was really surprised when I spotted it locally, so I grabbed it! I didn't have one of the similar glitters (DL Stairway to Heaven, CG Snowglobe, etc, etc.) Heavenly will be getting lots of use  over my spring pastels!

Formula wise it was a little bit thick, however it was also very packed with glitter so I was happy about that. I might try adding just a bit of thinner to make it easier for next time. Pictures show one coat, and you'll be seeing the base polish later this week! Heavenly is made up of lots of small blue SQUARE iridescent glitters and larger multicoloured pastel hex glitters. Super cool and definitely very versatile, I bet this would look amazeballs over black!

That's it from me for now, have a great day!

Cult Nails Seduction

Hi there! Happy Friday :) Today I have some shots of a gorgeous Cult Nails polish. It's a flakie glitter with blue to red colour shifts in a tinted purple jelly base. At extreme angles you can also see a green flash! I layered it over Zoya Monica so I only needed two coats to get awesome coverage.

Disregard the unpolished thumbnail LOL

Seduction is limited edition so if you like it, head over to Cult Nails and grab it while you can!! MMM I want to maybe layer it over black and add a teal-coloured flakie on top, I think that might be awesome!

Anyway that's all today, so enjoy your weekend!

Revlon Midnight Sparkle

Hey! I hope you're all having a great day :)  This polish popped up on blogs a month or two a go and I loved it! I actually really like Revlon, they have a great range of shades and they do some pretty interesting glitters. Most of them ARE dupes for higher end polishes, but still I'm down with saving some money.

Midnight Sparkle is very dupe-y to Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues. I don't own it, and DL prices are a little steep for me, but I am very happy to have a similar polish! The Revlon has a very deep blue jelly base with silver hexes and microglitter. The glitter does come off looking blue because of how pigmented the base is. I only needed two coats for coverage with this polish. It did have some texture, so if you have a thicker topcoat, use it!

I had to order this polish from eBay because it didn't show up in my local stores, so I'm not sure if it didn't come to Canada or if it sold out locally before I could find it. If you want it though, I would definitely recommend tracking it down soon because it was part of the Holiday collection and might not be around much longer.

Zoya Monica- February Untrieds

Hey! So I can never find any Zoyas locally. All the ones I have were either ordered online (most of them) or bought secondhand (two of them). This one I bought online when I couldn't find a perfect smoky purple like this one!

Monica is a darker, dusty, murky purple with reddish tints. It's from one of the recent fall collections, and I really love it for the fall/winter seasons! It's also a great colour for layering, as you will be finding out shortly! Hint hint, nudge nudge. Great formula, two easy coats here without topcoat.

Very nice! I can definitely see myself wearing this lots on its own and underneath lots of effects toppers!

Be sure to check out Amanda and Amanda with their untrieds as well!

Cult Nails Coveted- February Untrieds

I'm posting this polish as part of the February Untrieds Challenge along with Amanda and Amanda!

Man oh man is this ever an awesome polish!! I have definitely joined the Cult. Coveted came out as part of the recent Behind Closed Doors collection, and as soon as I saw swatches I knew I would be ordering it.

Coveted is a beautiful emerald green jelly with shimmer and green flakes. The flakes don't have a colour shift but they add a beautiful depth to the polish. Because it is a jelly it takes three coats to reach opacity but the formula is great and so easy to control. With Emerald having been declared the Pantone 2013 colour of the year, I'm sure to be getting some use out of this baby!

I did notice some texture from the flakes even after I topped it with Wicked Fast (also my new favorite topcoat) so if you have something like Gelous I would use that overtop to smooth it out. Any stray flakies that are poking off the end of the nail can be filed smooth, and I just pushed any that were poking out by my cuticule further into the polish while it was wet so I could get a nice smooth line.

So pretty! I love green nail polish, do you?

China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint

Hi there! How's everything going today? Watching the Superbowl? I don't really follow sports and I don't have cable, so I spent the day housecleaning and swatching. Yay for lazy Sundays!

This is a colour I wanted for a long time, I totally have a thing for pastels and ESPECIALLY pastel aqua/mint shades. Mmmmm. I seriously have so many colours in this family and I always catch myself picking up more.

Re-Fresh Mint was part of the 2011Spring collection Up & Away. I have most of the shades from this collection, they're so great! This is a very pale shade of mint green, with heavy blue undertones. I was afraid it would be close to For Audrey, but it's much, much paler and a little more blue (to my eyes anyway). Formula was a little bit difficult, there was some streakiness on the first coat but I used a thicker second coat and it self levelled pretty well with topcoat.

Colours like this make me so excited for spring! Are you ready for spring manis or still rocking the winter shades?

Joe Fresh Cinnamon

Hi there! Happy Friday! Have any plans for the weekend? My boyfriend and I are going on a date tonight so I'm excited about that, dinner and bowling, yay!

This is a colour I picked up last time I was at Superstore, I hadn't seen it before so I thought I thought I should pick it up. (Not like I was at Superstore expressly to buy polish...) It's a blue-based red with gold shimmer, and a great winter colour. Formula was good, two coats and it's good to go! Unfortunately the gold shimmer did get drowned a little in the base, but it's still a pretty colour.

In other news I'm still trying to fix my camera's white balance, I loved how it was set before but now my pictures are coming out so dark! I want to Photoshop them as little as possible so I really want to get it back to my custom setting. Ugggggh I'm so mad at myself!

Anyway I will hopefully have that figured out soon, I have lots of swatching to do!
