Some Random Swatches!

Hey everyone! I hope your weekend is going well, mine got off to a bad start when I came home to find that my kitten had hurt himself falling and the vet said he broke his pelvis :( He's doing better now, hopefully he will heal up on his own and not need surgery. BUT my weekend is ending on a better note, I'm going to see Zedd tonight! I'm very excited, he's been on my to-see list for quite a while.

On a polish note, I have a few random swatches here and I don't feel like I have enough to say about them for each to get its own post.

Dynamite Blue Symphony- this is a little polish I grabbed in a clothing store I like, I was waiting in line and happened to see a display up by the front. Naturally I caved and grabbed a couple. This is a deep, bright blue shimmer. Not unique but a good shade to have on hand, and formula was good! Two coats.

China Glaze Immortal- A colour from the Halloween collection, Immortal is a grey creme with blue and pink shimmer. I really like it, but as you can see it was a bit patchy at two coats. Next time I'll be sure to do three! Formula was good otherwise, easy to control.

Jessica Platinum Wishes- I LOVE This polish. I've shown it over China Glaze Liquid Leather. It has multicoloured and holo multiglitter in a clear base. The colours look like blue, red, and green predominately, but there are others in there. I haven't seen this polish on blogs and I have no idea why not, it's from the Holiday collection and it's amazing. I have another glitter to show but it's like I forgot how to work my camera when I was photographing and all my pictures were terrible.

That's all for now! I hope you enjoyed.

Ibiza Mix Jelly Sandwich

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Today I have a jelly sandwich. I always mean to do these more often, but I usually have so many new polishes I just wear them instead. It's a real issue. LOL. I love the look of white based glitters, but haven't found the PERFECT one just yet (Yeah, I'm picky) so I thought I would see if I could scratch my itch with polishes I already have. Ibiza Mix by model's own is a great bright glitter, just what I needed. I sandwiched it with OPI Funny Bunny, a white jelly. I can't quite recall how many coats I used, I think it was 2 OPI, 2 model's own, and then another OPI. Don't quote me on it, though.

Ta Da!! I don't think this is going to be my PERFECT "candy" glitter, but I definitely like the look, and I like that I didn't have to buy any polishes for it, LOL.

Dollish Polish Girls Rule Boys Drool

Hey all! I hope you had a fun Christmas if you celebrate, and a successful Boxing Day if you were brave enough to face the malls! I thought about going shopping today, but then decided I would rather read A Storm of Swords. I've been completely sucked into the Song of Fire and Ice books this past bit, so if anyone was wondering where I was... yeah, stuck between the pages of a book haha. BUT I remembered myself, and here I am.
Today I have a very pretty indie for you, and a rare one at that. I don't have many indies at all, but when I heard about this one I thought it sounded pretty cool. It's one of only 300 bottles, and to be given the opportunity to get it you had to fill out a form and have your name drawn. Kind of like a giveaway, but you still had to pay. haha!! Anyway I never expected to get to buy it because I never win anything, but I did! Yay!
Girls Rule Boys Drool is a very girly mix of tiny pink and purple matte glitters. This is also the first matte glitter I own, and I really like it. Here I wore one coat over two (or three? can't remember) coats of China Glaze Something Sweet to really amp up the girlieness. I also think it would look great over periwinkle, or white/cream, and obviously black.

There you have it! What do you think of this girly glitter? Would you wear it, or is it too much?

Barielle Elle's Spelll

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having good weekends. Mine has been okay, I've been feeling under the weather the past couple days so I've been having lots of bed rest. For me, bed rest also apparently means online polish shopping, so happy early Christmas to me I guess!! Now this is a cool polish I'd had on my wishlist for a while before I found it in a blog sale. Elle's Spell is a red jelly base packed with these cool orange-red flakies. At more extreme angles, you can see the flakes take on a green shift too. I forgot to get photos of that, whoops! The base colour is pretty sheer, I had to use three coats for opacity and there's still some VNL. Next time I may try it layered to see how that works. Other than sheerness, I didn't have trouble with the formula. I think the flakes make this an interesting take on the holiday red trend.

There you have it! Just a quick one for today, hope you enjoyed.

Whimsical Seas

Hey everyone! So this is a combo I have seen before, but I really wanted to try it out for myself. China Glaze Sea Spray is an awesome grayed out light blue, a very pale shade but a little too dusty to be a true pastel. It's not quite a shimmer but it has a little bit of a pearl to it. I really love it. Revlon Whimsical is a light blueish very sheer base with pink and blue hexes and tiny bright blue microglitter. The polish is too sheer to every reach opacity on it's own, so a base is definitely necessary. I think it would look good over other colours too but Sea Spray is the one closest to its base. Whimsical is also a Deborah Lippmann dupe of Glitter in the Air, so that's a bonus!

That's all for today! What do you think of the combo? Not exactly winter appropriate, but I think it's cute!

Liebster Award!

Hi there!
So recently I was nominated for a Liebster award, I wasn't sure what it was at first lol but I looked it up and it's an award for blogs with under 200 followers. I was nominated by Marissa from Get Polished Up! I was super touched to be nominated (I'm honestly still surprised when I see my blog gain a follower, it's so exciting to know people actually look at my posts!) and I hope you enjoy this little post. :)

First, how the Liebster Award works:
I post 11 facts about myself.
I answer the 11 questions Marissa came up with.
And then I make up 11 new questions and tag 11 other bloggers! Yay!

So here goes.
1. I love health and fitness and am a physique competitor, as a bikini athlete.
2. I have a ragdoll kitten named Oscar and I LOVE him, he is so cuddly and sweet!
3. I currently work as a waitress, but I'm certified as a personal trainer and am getting into doing that as a career. But I also kind of want to become a nail tech...
4. I'm VERY indecisive (see above!) haha.
5. I did a 2 and a half years of post secondary in Psychology, I enjoyed the subject but didn't think I liked it enough to make a career of it.
6. I've been collecting/hoarding polish just since this year and my stash is growing exponentially!
7. I lived in Saudi Arabia for 7 years when I was growing up!
8. I hate scary movies, it's not so much the scariness while I'm watching them that gets me, but later when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and my brain is like "Hey guess what, DEMONS!!" No good.
9. I love food, and while I can stick to a diet in order to reach my goals, cheat meals are a MUST to keep me sane. Baking is another hobby of mine, and Reese Peanut Butter Cups are my crack!
10. I love electronic music, specifically progressive house and electro, and going to shows and dancing is the best way to cut loose for me.
11. I have been with my fantastic boyfriend for just over a year and we recently bought a condo together.

And now Marissa's questions!
1. What is your favorite band? As far as drum and guitar type bands go, I really like alternative rock. My first ever concert was My Chemical Romance circa I'm Not OK, and I've seen most bands I've wanted to since then!
2. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I've always wanted to go to Australia, but I think I'd also like to go to Europe. OR just the USA to stock up on their awesome junk food (I'm lookin' at you, flavoured OREOs) and cheap polish!
3. What is your favorite nail polish of all time? I would have to say my favorite nail polish of all time would be Sally Hansen Turquoise Opal, I owned it years ago but added nail polish remover to it in my ignorance and ruined it. T.T
4. If you could meet anyone, past or present, who would it be and why? Hmmm... I feel like I should have a really cool, meaningful answer to this, but I just don't :( Let's go with my Great Grandma, she was part First Nations and I think she would have had a lot of amazing stories to share.
5. What inspired you to start your blog? I felt like owning a blog to showcase my polish collection would somehow "justify" it, and I was hoping to meet and talk to other lacquerheads!
6. Where is your favorite place to buy nail polish? I mostly buy at Winners or dusties irl, we don't have good beauty supplies like Ulta or Sally's in my part of Canada. Most of my polish comes from online though!
7. What is your favorite beauty product (besides nail polish)? Tie for mascara and blush. I wear them every single day!
8. What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie growing up was The Nightmare Before Christmas, I still watch it around Halloween.
9. Do you have any pets? Oscar the kitten!
10. What do you do as a career (or what are you planning on doing)? I answered this already!
11. What is your favorite sports team? I don't follow professional sports.

Next I have to come up with 11 questions of my own!
1. What got you into polish collecting/blogging?
2. What is your all time biggest Lemming?
3. If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
4. What's your drink of choice? (Virgin or alcoholic!)
5. What was your favourite subject in school, and why?
6. Name your three favorite artists.
7. What was your favourite animal as a kid?
8. What was the last movie you saw in theaters?
9. What TV show are you addicted to?
10. What's your favorite food?
11. What's your dream job?

And now the Nominees! Not sure I can get to 11 but I will try!
1. Saira at The Girl With The Green Nails
2. Jenn at Paperbacks and Polish
3. Shelby at Shelby's Swatches
4. Allyson, Cait, and Sarah at The Lacquer Diaries
5. The hilarious Nicole at Young Wild and Polished
6. Yulia at Vicerimus
7. Caroline at nailsapART

Those are all the blogs I personally follow with under 200 followers, they are all amazing! I hope everyone continues the award, it's really a lot of fun!

Sation Miss Emo Shun All

Hey there!
So I'm sure you may have seen this colour on other blogs, it is FANTASTIC! I saw this on I think Kellie Gonzo a long time ago and I was in LOVE. Sation is unfortunately hard to find irl, I know it's at some TJMaxx/Marshall's/Winners stores, but sadly not my local Winners. I ended up ordering this online, hopefully Sation eventually makes it into my Winners.

The colour itself is this amazing bright, almost neon blue-toned purple. Now my camera's idea of this colour is not really what the colour actually is, but this is the best I could do. Imagine it a lot more blinding and bright! The formula on this was actually crazy thick, I did a few fingers and then added some thinner because it was like painting with glue. But after I thinned it, the problem was taken care of and I only needed one coat on most fingers. Bonus! It did dry kind of matte so be sure to add topcoat for shine!

Love it. So purple!! Do you have any of this up and coming brand? The bottle is also a little bigger than normal, 15 ml instead of the usual 14 or so. Nice. I wish I had easier access to Sation because I would totally get a bunch more, their glitters are amazing.

Butterscotch Glitter Clouds

Hey everyone! For this mani I decided to try out the cloud design. I've seen it lots before and think it's super cute. Unfortunately I don't think the colours I chose were the best because it's hard to tell them apart, but I still think it was an interesting look. For this one I started with China Glaze Desert Sun, an interesting burnt orange/caramel colour. I'm not 100% convinced about this colour on my skintone, I think it's a little into lobster hands territory on me. BUT it also looks like I have Werther's caramels on my nails. Mmmmmmm *Homer Simpson drool*. So then I did the clouds first with I Herd That, a glitter that closely corresponds with Desert Sun. I added another cloud over the first with I'm Not Lion, a lighter glitter from the same collection. Overall it's really hard to see the distinction in the two glitters, but you can tell there's a difference so that's good for me!

Overall I think it was a cool variation on glitter tip manicures and next time I want to try out the design with some pastels or brights! Anywway that's all for me today, hope you enjoyed!

Lazy 15 Disney Nails

So I was doing better, got all caught up on this challenge. And then my boyfriend and I moved into our new condo (YAY!) which means all my nail stuff was packed up (BOO) so I am once again incredibly behind on the challenge. Le sigh. But these were my Disney nails!

I knew better than to attempt nail art again, so I went with a skittle mani inspired by the dresses popular Disney princesses wear. The blue represents Cinderella, the tan dotted with turquoise and gold is Pocahontas, the flakie teal and purple is Ariel, and the yellow with blue is Belle! I actually think I did an ok job on these, and it really made me remember how much I loved Disney movies growing up. My mom said I learned how to work the VCR when I was like 2, and from there on out it was nonstop Little Mermaid. Aww yeah.

Joe Fresh Bumbleberry

Hi!!
Okay so I realize I'm on a super intense Joe Fresh kick right now but I seriously can't help it! They're my go-to for creme shades that round out a collection. They do great basic colours that I love, but don't necessarily want to spend a ton of money on. (I'm looking at you, $10/bottle OPI!) The formula is almost always great, and the price point is so right! Three for ten dollars, don't mind if I do. This particular colour is a great berry shade, a bit more on the pink side. It has a great creme formula and went on easily in two coats. The little short brush handles do take some time to get used to, but the brushes themselves are fantastic. Anyway this is all something you've heard from me before, so let's get on to the picture!

I really loved this shade and will be reaching for it to pair with some glitters soon! The little bit of blackness at my nail line isn't the polish's fault btw, I didn't clean up properly after the galaxy mani.

Lazy 15 Super Duper Catch Up Post!!

Hey everyone! As the title suggests, this is my lazy 15 Super Duper Catch Up post, where I will post the last few mani's I haven't posted yet, as well as my Dessert Mani for today, thereby bringing me back up to speed. Whew! This post is super long so the rest is going under a cut, be sure to check it out!

Jessica Pumpkin Delight

Hello! I hope you're all doing well today! Today I have a polish from a new to me brand, Jessica. I don't see it on that many blogs, and I don't see it in stores around me. It pops up on occasion at Winners though, and that's where I got this beauty! It's from the fall collection called Spicy Dreams, and it's a gorgeous multicoloured foil polish. I had seen it on Scrangie and wanted it, and it just wandered into my life!

The colour on this one is hard to explain, it has orangey and gold flecks and the flecks also give it a duochrome look on the nail. It is so so sparkly in real life too, it's amazing. This colour is like fall in a bottle to me! I don't normally care much for warm colours but this one is fantastic and if you can find it, I recommend it. I'm also going back tomorrow for Cinnamon Kiss, a deep vampy red colour from the same collection.

What do you think of this foil shimmer? I really think I like foil as a finish!

Lazy 15- Galaxy Nails

Hello everyone! I hope your Mondays are going well. Today the prompt is Galaxy Nails. I've seen these before and really liked them, and I was very excited to try them out myself. I think I did a good job on these, I'm very happy with them!

I started with a base of black, then sponged on lots of different colours randomly over the nail. I think I used China Glaze For Audrey, First Mate, White Out, OPI Man of La Mancha, and a random Sally Hansen purple. I added Fairy Dust in the black spaces for sparkle, and fished out some small silver holo hexes from a Revlon glitter and used them to make stars.

So there we go? What do you think of my galaxy nails? I'm proud of them, yay! Now I'm off to go moisturize my cuticles, the wintery weather here is not very nice to them! Be sure to check out the other Lazy 15ers!

The Lazy 15- Water Marble

Hey everyone! So today we have my mortal enemy the challenging technique of water marbling. Now this is something I'd seen on other blogs and thought was pretty cool, while also being like "Pfffft how hard can it be really? Put some polish in a cup and stick your finger in, I could TOTALLY do that. If I wanted to." Well I am here to tell you today that it is VERY hard really, and no I totally CANNOT do that.

This mani fought me every single step of the way, and I was very close to pulling a /ragequit and going to bed (I foolishly started this project at 11:45 pm.) However I didn't want to bail out of the challenge on the third day, so I steeled my nerves and fought on. The polish wouldn't spread. It dried too fast and wouldn't make a design. I missed getting the design on my whole nail and the white base was showing. I somehow smudged and dented my other nails in the process. My one cat decided he wanted attention and was walking huffily on my desk, dangerously close to my marbling cup. My kitten decided he wanted to torment my other cat and was clambering around my feet and trying to get close to the other cat. Oh yes my friends, it was no good.

I set out from the beginning to only do an accent nail of marbling, because let's be serious. Nail art + me= no bueno. I painted my other nails with Sally Hansen Green Tea because I haven't used it aside from Wednesday's dots. I like it except for that giant paddle brush. The "marble" (term used very very loosely) was done in China Glaze For Audrey because Green Tea wasn't pigmented enough, and with Essie In Stitches. In my first and most spectacular fail, I also tried using L'Oreal Walk on the Beach but it wouldn't spread enough. So I left it out on the second go. And this is what I got! I would try and explain it, but I don't even. Just.... Wow. On the bright side, when/if I ever get passable at water marbling, I can look back and laugh. Right? Right. With that said, here we are.

I just.... give up okay? I'm so sorry. I promise the rest of my posts won't subject your poor eyeballs to this level of fug. But everyone else's marbles are going to look really really good next to mine, so really, you should be thanking me! ;) ;) Haha! Anyway it is now 1 am, I am exhausted, and I am going to pass out on my keyboard unless I get by butt to bed! Can't wait to see everyone else's posts!

Lazy 15- Dots

Hey everyone!
Just a quick post for today, I have to get headed to work shortly. I am TERRIBLE at dots. Partly because I don't have dotting tools, and mostly because I am terrible at nail art! Haha. So I painted a base of OPI Ink Suede and then slapped a row of dots across each nail with my cleanup brush using Sally Hansen Green Tea. And they're uneven, I am the worst at this!

I do like the colour combo. I want to get some dotting tools and maybe with some practice I can get better!
Be sure to check the other girls' manis for today!

China Glaze 2NITE

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I'm not sure why Tuesday would be particularly happy except, maybe, for this polish of WIN I am about to show you!

When I first heard of the China Glaze OMG collection, I looked at swatches, I drooled, and I pined knowing these polishes would probably never be mine. I looked on eBay and thought wow, these are definitely never going to be mine!!

But, as you can guess from the title of this post, I would eventually own at least one. I was wandering one of the two small malls in my town, and noticed a nail shop in one with some polishes in the window. The store is across from the video game store my bf likes to browse, so I had lots of time to window shop. I noticed some silver capped China Glazes. I started to get hopeful. Silver cap = good. I went into the shop and asked if the polishes in the window were for sale. Yes they are!! So I asked to look at the silver capped polishes and SCORE!! 2NITE and LOL! I bought them both and took off with a huge smile! Then a few weeks later, I went back because they had some other awesome older polishes, and noticed yet another silver cap I had missed the first time. Well, TMI is now mine as well! This nail salon has another location and I need to get my buns over there to see if they have any more of this collection!

Anyway enough blabbering, here is the money!

In diffuse light, a beautiful cornflower blue with what looks like ordinary silver shimmer.

And then in most light, rainbows of awesomeness!! I could see rainbows seriously 90% of the time on my nails, even in low light.

Do you own any of this coveted collection? Did you luck into them dusty hunting or find them online or in a swap? I'm excited for the 2013 collection of holographics but I'm very excited to own these as well!

Monday 5 November 2012

Lazy 15- Gradient Mani

Phew!! So this is today's actual prompt, a gradient mani!! I've actually done a few gradient manis and they're one of my favorite things to do, but this is the first one I've photographed for the blog!

I used two colours from the older Color Club Foiled collection, Cold Metal and Perfect Mol-ten. I found they worked really great for my gradient and blended very smoothly! I started with a base of ONE (!!) coat of Cold Metal, and sponged the gradient with Perfect Mol-ten onto my tips. A quick coat of SV to smooth it out and that's all folks! Now that I've done a few gradients I find them very quick to do, especially using awesome pigmented colours like these ones!

What do you think of my gradient? It's subtle but I like it that way! See you on Wednesday for some dots!

Lazy 15- Tape Mani

Hi Everyone!
I saw this nail art challenge on the Polish Enthusiast's blog and thought.... I'm lazy, this might work for me! haha. So there are 15 different prompts in this challenge, most of which are things I've wanted to try for a while! The first is a tape mani.

I used Ruby Pumps (man I am burning through these untrieds!) as my base, 2 coats. Then I taped off the triangles with regular scotch tape and added China Glaze Liquid Leather, my go to black polish. Once it was on, I peeled the tape off before the polish dried and voila, triangles! My lines aren't as neat as they could be, but for my first time I'm pretty happy with it!

What do you think about tape manis? I think they're an easy way to get a look that makes people think you did a lot more work than you actually did ;) Next I need to get my hands on some striping tape and try that out!

China Glaze For Audrey

Hello!!
This is a polish I wanted for a long time until the lovely Arlyn gifted it to me in the Secret Goblin swap a bunch of us did a while back. This is a great colour and I'm super happy to have it, a classic Tiffany blue creme.

Formula wise, this one was a little challenging. It wanted to run off the brush in big blobs and I was tired and let it get away onto my nails! Noooooo! I needed three coats to even it out, but I think next time if I polish more carefully I'll be able to get away with two.

Then since I've been seeing lots of posts about RBL's Bring it Back event happening soon, and am trying to convince myself that I don't need to buy any more polishes at this point, I tried to imitate Aqua Lily by adding Amethyst Sparkle on top of For Audrey. It's certainly no dupe but it's good enough for me! I really love the CND effects, they're so versatile.

What do you think of this colour? You probably have it by now, it's a great shade! Hopefully soon my nails will be back in good condition, they haven't broken in a while so I hope they keep improving!

China Glaze Dorothy Who?

Hey all!
This polish is awesome because it came to me in a Secret Goblin swap I did with a few other girls for Halloween! It was started by the lovely Amanda of The Nail Polish Enthusiast and my Secret Goblin was Arlyn, she is a total sweetie and you may have seen her on twitter! @Arlyn531
She did a fantastic job and I love everything she got me, my gift included China Glaze Dorothy Who, Ruby Pumps, and For Audrey, as well as Revlon Naughty and some cute extras!

So I decided to get right into my gift and today I'm showing you Dorothy Who, a bright blue jelly base packed with silver microglitter. It does go on sheer, so you'll have to build it up to avoid VNL. I have three coats and you can still see a little bit. The formula was good, not too hard to control, and I didn't notice any staining when I took it off!

There you have it! Pretty hey? I think it'll be great in the summer but the glitter makes it work for winter too!

My nails and cuticles have been giving me some trouble lately, the corners kept breaking off my nails so I've rounded them a bit and am taking lots of Biotin and Omega 3 supplements so hopefully they toughen up soon, and I have some wounds on my cuticles I tried my best to photoshop out! Ouch!

Nubar Elegant Indigo/CND Raspberry Sparkle

Hey everyone!! How was your Halloween weekend? I'm scheduling this post, Saturday night I headed up to Edmonton with my boyfriend and some of our friends and we went to a party called Scream, it had Nicky Romero and Hardwell djing and they're fantastic, I'm sure I had a great time! Haha it's weird writing from the past, I'm not sure what tense to use.

This polish I picked up at Winners a long long time ago, but it seemed like it would be a biatch to photograph so I left it for Future me to deal with when I had a better set up. That would be now, so here we are! This is a black polish with glassfleck shimmer that shifts from pink to purple to blue. Super awesome! I'm not really much of one for straight black polish so the colourful shimmer in this one really brightens it up nicely for me. Formula wise this was great, nice and easy to control and only needed two coats for opacity. If you can find this, I'd recommend it!

Pretty neat hey? Anyways I thought that wasn't quite splashy enough so I did a gradient with my CND Effects Raspberry Sparkle. I'm a big fan of the CND effects, especially the sparkle ones. They're like duochrome glassfleck polishes in a sheer base than can be used over a variety of colours. I love them but they are a little hard to find, if you're in Canada they can be found in Chatters and are on sale right now!

In this shot you can see more blue shimmer.

And here you can see the purple/pink shimmer!

What do you think about this shimmer? Do you have any effects type polishes that you like to use?

China Glaze Rainstorm

Hey all! This is going to be a super quick post because I have to go get ready for work (laaaaame)! This is an older polish I picked up in the sale bin at some random salon in West Edmonton Mall a few weeks ago. It looked interesting in the bottle so it came home with me!

Rainstorm is a medium cornflower blue polish with some bright blue microglitter in it! The microglitter doesn't look clumpy or gritty in the polish, it lays smooth and makes it look really interesting. On top of that, there's also a very very subtle violet shimmer, almost a pearl effect. I think it's a super pretty colour! Formula wise, this one was a little odd. It's very sheer and needed 4 coats, and it was thick but runny at the same time. I didn't have much trouble controlling it though. Maybe the formula is weird because it's an older polish? Anyway, here are the pics! All have Nail Tek II basecoat and SV topcoat!

I think it does look like a rainstorm, don't you?

Joe Fresh Mulberry

Hey folks! I'm back with another awesome Joe Fresh! Since I just talked about them Monday, I'll go right into the polish.

Mulberry is a deep, vampy wine colour with amazing gold and what looks like burgundy microglitter/shimmer. Once again, the shimmer almost looks like teeny tiny flakies a la Zoya Neeka, and I loved that so obviously I love this too! This is a FANTASTIC fall/winter polish and I'm super glad I scooped it up! Formula was, it was perfection, I only needed two coats and had hardly any cleanup. I will note that the tiny bottles on Joe Fresh polishes take some getting used to, but after that it's all good. I loved this so much that I ended my swatch session and put it on as a full mani!

Let's see some pictures! All have Nail Tek II basecoat and SV topcoat.

Can we just take a moment here and look at that bottle? Amazing.

Love love love. Thank you Joe Fresh. If he was a person, I would have to marry him.

Joe Fresh Twilight

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! I hope you're all having a happy Monday anyway. If not, maybe this beauty will cheer you up. I've posted Joe Fresh polishes before, and I have to say I'm impressed with them! They're very affordable, (3 for $10?! Heck yeah!!) good quality, and the colour range is phenomenal. I don't go to Superstore much, but I always spend some time looking at all the different polishes. This one is pretty awesome because it's a FLAKIE!!! Twilight is one polish I make sure to always slip into swap packages because I think it's just so cool, and it's only available here in Canada.

Twilight has a sheer black jelly base loaded with green to orange colour shifting flakies. It does take three coats to reach opacity, but it's soooo worth it. The flakies flash green most of the time, and it makes the polish look like a gemstone! Then at certain angles, bright orange! Man it's great. I can't believe I waited so long to try this out. Because the base is sheer, it could probably be layered, but I like the depth and flakie payoff of wearing it on its own.

You ready? Yeah, you're ready!
All pics are with Nail Tek II basecoat and SV topcoat.

I'm in love.

Then, because I've heard great things about mattified flakies, I decided to throw on my matte topcoat (also Joe Fresh, hey I love a bargain!) and find out for myself.

I still like it, but I think I prefer the glossy look! I definitely will be trying more matte manicures in the future though. So what do you think? Has this steal of a deal stolen its way into your heart? Find a Canadian friend to get it to you, it's worth it!
