Nubar Reclaim

Hey everyone! I went missing again but I have enough swatches saved up now to get through to my days off now, so that's good. Today I will show you Nubar Reclaim. This is a lovely green holo with a really great formula, I'm not sure why Nubar hasn't made this in every colour!

I can't remember whether it was two or three coats for the life of me though, sorry!

I just love that linear holographic goodness!! So awesome! 

Rainbow Untried! Layla Mercury Twilight

Hey there! So this is my super duper late Rainbow untried, but I still have an hour and a half in Thursday so here it is.

Just a quick one today, Layla Mercury Twilight. Application on these Laylas can be quite challenging, I know I tried it over a ridge-filling basecoat a long time ago and it was a nightmare. To be safe now I use an aqua base under pretty much all my holos. These pictures show three coats and to be honest, I'm still not completely happy with the coverage. Next time I think I'll layer it over a silver foil to boost the opacity. The holo effect is strong though!

Mmm rainbows! It's hard for me to get good shots of it in direct light, but man the the holo looks good when it shows! Be sure to check out what Amanda and Amanda have today!

March Untrieds- HITS Hefesto

Hey there! So for this month Amanda, Amanda, and myself are doing Rainbow untrieds. This one is pretty open for interpretation so that's cool! I personally have a rather large amount of untried holos so I'll be showing them lots.
Today (but actually I meant for this to be last week) I wore HITS Hefesto over Revlon Sweet Tart. Hefesto is the holo topcoat from the No Olimpo collection of holographics. I put one coat over two coats of Sweet Tart. The first two shots are in indirect light and then the next two are full lighting to show the holo goodness!

I like this combo a lot, it made me feel like I had Barbie nails! I can't wait to try Hefesto over other colours!

China Glaze 2NITE

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I'm not sure why Tuesday would be particularly happy except, maybe, for this polish of WIN I am about to show you!

When I first heard of the China Glaze OMG collection, I looked at swatches, I drooled, and I pined knowing these polishes would probably never be mine. I looked on eBay and thought wow, these are definitely never going to be mine!!

But, as you can guess from the title of this post, I would eventually own at least one. I was wandering one of the two small malls in my town, and noticed a nail shop in one with some polishes in the window. The store is across from the video game store my bf likes to browse, so I had lots of time to window shop. I noticed some silver capped China Glazes. I started to get hopeful. Silver cap = good. I went into the shop and asked if the polishes in the window were for sale. Yes they are!! So I asked to look at the silver capped polishes and SCORE!! 2NITE and LOL! I bought them both and took off with a huge smile! Then a few weeks later, I went back because they had some other awesome older polishes, and noticed yet another silver cap I had missed the first time. Well, TMI is now mine as well! This nail salon has another location and I need to get my buns over there to see if they have any more of this collection!

Anyway enough blabbering, here is the money!

In diffuse light, a beautiful cornflower blue with what looks like ordinary silver shimmer.

And then in most light, rainbows of awesomeness!! I could see rainbows seriously 90% of the time on my nails, even in low light.

Do you own any of this coveted collection? Did you luck into them dusty hunting or find them online or in a swap? I'm excited for the 2013 collection of holographics but I'm very excited to own these as well!

Ozotic Pro 513

So a while back when it was announced that Ozotic was discontinuing it's 500 series of polishes, I went on a spree trying to snap up the ones I wanted. This one wasn't originally on the list, but I love purple and holo so I figured better safe than sorry! Into the cart it went, and I am VERY glad it did! This is a bright medium purple that in shade looks like it has silver shimmer, but in the sun transforms into these awesome bright rainbows!! I seriously don't think I will ever grow tired of linear holos, they're like magic to me. Simple pleasures, right?
This was three coats over basecoat, no top coat. I think I probably could have gotten away with two coats except there was a little extra polish at the free edge because I suck at wrapping my tips still, so the third coat leveled everything out.

Jelly Sandwich with Revlon Royal

Hi there! I hope you all had a great weekend, I really didn't do too much. It's hard to find stuff to do that doesn't involve food or drinking, I'm 15 weeks away from my competition so that means I need to be strict. So I stayed at home with my boyfriend watching movies and painting my nails, of course.  This time I did something a little bit different for me. I bought Revlon Royal a while ago because of the hype it gets on blogs, and I have to say I can see why! The colour is bright and intense and doesn't look black in low lights or inside. And the jelly finish is awesome on its own or as a sandwich. For this look I used two coats of Revlon, then a coat of Revlon Stunning, then another coat of Royal. Stunning is silver and holographic microglitter with small silver hexes. The third coat of Royal covered the holo-ness of the glitter more than I wanted, so I added China Glaze Fairy Dust sparingly over the top. The only negative thing about the polishes was that Royal wanted to run up into my cuticles, it was a little hard to control. 

The weather here is gross again, I ran out and took these pictures in the only 5 minutes of sun we've had in the last two days. Stupid Alberta weather. Excuse the tipwear too, work isn't kind to my nails.

HITS No Olimpo Atena

Hello! Yesterday I had some awesome nail mail from Llarowe, I got a few of the discontinued Ozotics as well as some other polishes that caught my eye. Including this one, Atena from the No Olimpo collection of holographics. Before I got into reading nail polish blogs, I had never seen a holographic polish before. They're amazing, and I'm very happy to own several now. This one is awesome because it's such a bright colour. It seems like lots of holos out there are really pale subdued shades, but this way you get the double whammy of bright pink and holo! Formula was good, I used three coats with basecoat but no topcoat. I didn't have any problems with patchiness or streaking. The HITS brush is a little different but once you get used to it, it works fine. In the shade this looks like a bright cranberry pink with silver shimmer, but out in the sun or bright lights you can see the rainbows! I apologize for the weird bit of polish on my ring finger, I didn't see it in real life and now the sun is hiding again so I can't retake them. The weather here is so unpredictable!
